ERV Evropská pojišťovna covers lot more than just COVID-19 treatment expenses
ERV Evropská has created the supplementary insurance package Extra to cover a wide range of problems associated with the Coronavirus. It is not restricted purely to treatment expenses while abroad, but also covers the need to cancel trips due to falling ill with COVID-19. The insurance can also be helpful if a client has return obstacles and cannot make a return travel from abroad at the planned time. It covers all travels made from Friday 26 June 2020.
Extra can only be arranged as a supplement for existing travel insurance, not separately. In the case of some travel insurance packages, only part of the supplementary insurance is required, because the remainder is already included in the basic travel insurance.
We recommend that clients regularly check information on the risk status of individual destinations on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic website. ERV Evropská insurance does not cover countries and territories to which the MFA does not recommend travelling. On the other hand, full insurance cover is provided in countries to which the MFA recommends travelling in absolutely necessary cases only; for leisure (non-essential) trips to such destinations, however, risks associated with COVID-19 are not covered.
If the COVID-19 situation significantly changes, both in the Czech Republic or abroad, we reserve the right to alter our stance.
The new supplementary insurance Extra extends insurance cover for treatment expenses, including those for COVID-19. We will cover expenses for the treatment of clients who are diagnosed with this illness when abroad. Other insurance cover applies to the original extent. Treatment expenses for COVID-19 are now a standard part of the insurance packages “Sbaleno” (“Packed”), “MultiTrip” and “Business Travel”.
We will also extend our clients’ insurance cover free of charge for the full time that they are forced to spend abroad due to falling ill with COVID-19. They can simply call us on our customer service line.
Extra extends the validity of current trip cancellation cover, even in situations where a client is planning to travel, but is forced to cancel the trip due to falling ill with COVID-19. Trip cancellation due to falling ill with COVID-19 is a standard part of the packages Trip Cancellation, Trip Cancellation Plus and MultiTrip. Extra also covers cases where a client is not permitted to board a plane (at the time of departure from the Czech Republic) due to an unsatisfactory health condition, and is therefore deprived of a trip or holiday. Quarantine in the Czech Republic without infection is not, in itself, a reason to make a claim for a cancelled trip.
Insurance conditions further stipulate that, if you cancel a trip to an area that is listed among high-risk destinations, or where political, sanitary, or other situations may cause travel concerns, we are entitled to reduce an insurance claim settlement by half. Mere concern about the Coronavirus in an area to which a client is planning to travel is therefore not a reason to acknowledge a claim for cancellation.
Extra can help in situations where a client needs to extend a stay abroad due to ordered quarantine or failure to meet health conditions for the return travel (the client is not permitted to board a plane). We will reimburse clients for documented extraordinary costs for substitute accommodation and return travel up to the full coverage limit.
We will also extend clients’ insurance cover free of charge for the full time that they are forced to spend in quarantine due to COVID-19. They can simply call us on our customer service line.
